12/4/2001

This was our second conference game and like Loyola we had a chip on our shoulders. Rider was picked to finish in 4th place in our league. Rider is off to a bad start with their record being 1-6. This was a game that we knew we could win and finish 1-1 in the first week of MAAC conference play. This was also our first home game when students would be able to come. We came out strong in the opening minutes of the game going 7-7 on three point shots. We went 8-10 in the first five minutes of the game. Rider would then go on its own run outscoring us 8-1. Making the score of the game 25-23 with 8:56 left in the first half. We settled down and went on another run going up by 13 points. Going into half we were shooting 56% from the three point line. We also had the lead 45-36. Rider began the second half on a quick 7-2 run to make the score 47-42. We responded with a 9-0 in the next 2:13 pushing the lead back up to 14 points. Sophomore Adam Kemp who went scoreless and reboundless in the first half exploded for 19 points and 7 rebounds in just 15 minutes in the second half. We won the game by a score of 95-75. Our 95 points was the most points score in a Marist game since 2002 when Marist faced LaSalle. Junior Devin Price would lead us in scoring and getting a career high in points with 25 points. Adam Kemp finished with 19 points and 7 rebounds, Chavaughn Lewis finished with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Freshman Isaiah Morton finished with 15 points and 5 assists. We are now 1-1 in MAAC conference play. We return to non-conference play when we face Army on 12/7/2011 at 7pm.

12/1/2011 1st MAAC Conference Game

On Wednesday night the team took the bus down to Maryland to play our first conference game Thursday night against Loyola University. Going into this game the team as well as the coaches had a chip on their shoulders because this was one of the teams that picked us to finish 10th in the league. We all felt like we had something to prove to everyone. Loyola was picked to finish in 3rd place. This was another game I had to watched from the bench and being that it was a conference game I was kind of upset that I would not be able to take the court with my teammates. Loyola came out strong in the first minute going up 5-1. We responded with our own 7-0 making the score 8-5. The game would go back and forth for the remainder of the half with Marist going into halftime up by 1 point.Loyola came out strong in the second half and never looked backed. We did not have the lead not one time in the second half. This was a game we gave away and should of won. We lost by a score of 76-63. Freshman Chavaughn Lewis continued to play well leading us in scoring with 16 points and Junior Devin Price added 11 points of his own. Our next game is on Sunday 12/4/2011 against Rider another conference team.
